Year 6 - Spring 2015

Year 6 topic next half term will be Frozen Kingdom. We will be looking at the differences and similarities between the arctic and antarctic. We will be investigating survival in extreme conditions and the habitats of the animals that live their.

Our literacy will be based around the classic novel Call of the Wild; considering character viewpoint and journey stories. We will then move onto non-fiction writing of discussion texts. Our focus for this will be the sinking of the Titanic. And of course lots of hard work polishing our SATs techniques.

Year 5/6 Unit

We have lots planned for the next half term. Our Topic and Theme is, "Scented Garden", and most of our learning will incorporate our theme. In English we will be concentrating on Capital Letters, Full Stops, Finger Spaces and Adjectives. We are also going to be working on our creative writing.

In our Maths lessons we are making sure that we complete as much as we can in our maths books as this helps us practice and write our numbers in a clear and concise way. We will be learning about plants and what they need to grow and we will also be planting and growing our own favourite herbs.

In PSHE we are learning about being, "Good Friends". We will be continuing cooking once every two weeks and doing lots of different forms of painting in the other week.

In RE we will be learning about different religions across Leicestershire.  We also have lots of opportunities to use technology safely.
